I think hair gel, especially of the L.A. looks category, is actually anti-contemporary. It says "I don't really know anything about hair product, hair gel is all there is right?" Its naive, and its pure. . . doesn't look good at all. . . but its pure.
That looks like Mike's big bottle of gel... didn't you have something like that, MP?
