I don't think it is ever possible to be completely unbiased on either side of this debate. We all have preconceived notions walking in to any debate and the only way to be open to different point of views is to realize that fact. The last statement of your post is very poignant. We can't think that we know it all. God is so far beyond us that it is impossible to fathom what He might use to create or how He might make the world. The same is true for science. There are so many things that we just don't understand and are doing our best to wrestle with. I think when it all comes to an end, everyone will be surprised.

@Rich: I think that's the most interesting part (and maybe the saddest?) They are completely scared of religion and the Church in general. There is a long, long history of the Church abusing scientists who didn't follow what was the "accepted" science of time time (Gallileo said the earth isn't the center of the universe and they put him under permanent house-arrest.) I wonder if there is a way to undo literally centuries of prejudice?

I like the last one. It fascinates me, because that's the twistiest one to swallow.

Heavy stuff...

Although they would like us to believe that they are objective (because it is a prerequisite for true scientific thought) I have to think that even these scientists are not completely impartial. They have an agenda too, that is, they want to prove that reason is far superior to faith in any God. Therefore, when considering their opinions on religion any comments must be viewed through this lens. Keep that in mind as you work this out in your head...
